Obituary:Dale Rex O'Neall, son of P.J. "Pete" O'Neall and Cora Lorraine McCarty O'Neall was born August 15, 1924 in Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life June 5, 2012 at his home in Murray, Iowa at 87 years of age.
A lifelong resident of Clarke County, Dale graduated from Murray High School. He was united in marriage to Merle Anne Lillard on August 27, 1943 in Osceola and one daughter Pennie Lynne, blessed this union.
Dale proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Seaman First Class. Following his time in the service, Dale first farmed and then worked as a serviceman for Union Gas for 11 years. He then worked as a plant supervisor for Auto Assemblies in Murray for 13 years.
Dale was a member of William-Lochrie Post #405 American Legion in Murray and served as the Post Commander for 13 years. He loved to play cards with the boys and was an avid collector of tools and rocks. Dale was very proud of his service to his country and felt very honored to have been able to travel on a recent Honor Flight to the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.
Those preceding Dale in death were his parents; son-in-law, Gary Gonseth; twin brother, Dean O'Neall; brothers, Herman O'Neall, Donald O'Neall, Harold O'Neall, Glen O'Neall; sisters, Mary Booth, Lucille Baughman, Helen Dugger, Twyla Gore; brothers-in-law, Fritz Booth, Gerald "Perk" Baughman, Kenneth Dugger, Bob Gore; sisters-in-law, Louise O'Neall, Dorothy O'Neall, Helen O'Neall and Ruth O'Neall.
Dale leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 68 years, Merle O'Neall of Murray; daughter, Pennie Gonseth Cheers and her husband Ken of Afton; granddaughter, Jodie Greig and her husband Joe of Estherville and their children Taylor Greig and Clayton Greig; grandson, John Gonseth and Becky Hoffman of Murray and their children, Madison Gonseth and Brooke Hoffman of Murray; Cole Page and his wife Tara and their children Cadin, Mallory and Caleb of Osceola and Cass Page of Osceola; brothers, John Tom O'Neall and his wife Millie of Murray, Robert O'Neall and his wife Judy of Peculiar, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends. Memorials: Memorial contributions may be directed to Greater Community Hospice in Creston or William-Lochrie Post #405 American Legion, Murray.
Visitation: Family will greet friends from 9:30-11:00 Saturday morning before the memorial service.
Service: Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa.
Cemetery: Private burial of cremains in Murray Cemetery will be at a later date. |
